Our 2021 Grants

We made £10,000 of grants from our community fund for projects run in 2021.

This was the fourth set of grants to local charities made from the proceeds of our energy generation.

Slough Fort Preservation Trust

£2,000

To support the volunteer-led development of the Slough Fort outdoor education space to benefit the community of Allhallows and surrounding villages near Rochester in Medway.

The grant will help to fund the development of the community orchard, including installing bee hives and providing educational information.

Wild Spaces Fund

£3,500 (Note: This project was unfortunately unable to go ahead and the grant was returned.)

To fund the training and organising of community volunteers, particularly young unemployed people, on Wild Spaces Fund nature reserves across Swale and Medway.

The volunteers will do ecological restoration work that increases the water retention of the land and promotes the sequestration of carbon into wetland sediments.

SATEDA

£4,500

To provide counselling services for victims of domestic abuse in Swale and Medway.

Following our first grant to SATEDA for 2020, we decided to make a second one for 2021 because of the importance of domestic abuse services during the COVID emergency.
